The Concourse Project is one of Austin’s premier electronic music venues, nationally recognized for hosting world-class artists, large-scale productions, and immersive guest experiences. Our events blend high-energy performance with thoughtful operations, requiring leadership that understands safety, hospitality, production, and culture at scale.

We are seeking an experienced Venue Operations Manager to serve as the senior on-site operational leader responsible for the full execution of events, team performance, financial oversight, and long-term operational excellence.

 

 

Role Overview

The Venue Operations Manager functions as the on-site General Manager, overseeing all on-site venue departments during event and non-event operations. This leader ensures seamless coordination between security, bar, production, box office, facilities, and guest services while maintaining profitability, compliance, and brand integrity.

This role requires strong financial acumen, operational leadership, people management expertise, and the ability to make high-level decisions in fast-paced live environments.

 

 

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership

  • Oversee full venue operations during events and standard operating days

  • Serve as the senior decision-maker on-site

  • Ensure cross-departmental coordination between security, bar, production, box office, facilities, and VIP teams

  • Drive operational consistency, efficiency, and accountability

  • Maintain compliance with all local, state, and safety regulations

Financial & Business Oversight

  • Manage labor budgets and operational costs

  • Oversee P&L performance in partnership with ownership

  • Forecast staffing and expense needs based on event scale

  • Identify operational efficiencies to increase profitability

  • Monitor revenue streams including bar, ticketing, VIP, and ancillary sales

Team Leadership & Culture

  • Lead, mentor, and develop department heads

  • Build strong communication systems across teams

  • Conduct leadership meetings and event briefings

  • Hold managers accountable to performance standards

  • Foster a culture of professionalism, hospitality, inclusivity, and excellence

Event Execution & Guest Experience

  • Ensure high-level execution of all shows from load-in to load-out

  • Oversee crowd flow, guest experience, VIP operations, and artist relations

  • Partner with Head of Security to maintain safety and compliance

  • Address escalated guest, artist, or partner concerns

  • Protect and elevate the venue’s brand reputation

Reporting & Strategic Growth

  • Provide post-event reports and operational summaries

  • Analyze trends in staffing, revenue, incidents, and guest feedback

  • Contribute to long-term strategic planning and scaling opportunities

  • Assist in festival, off-site, or expansion planning initiatives

 

 

Qualifications

Required

  • 5+ years of leadership experience in live events, nightlife, hospitality, or venue management

  • Proven experience managing multi-department teams

  • Strong P&L and budget management experience

  • Experience overseeing high-capacity venues or large-scale events

  • Excellent decision-making skills under pressure

  • Strong communication and leadership presence

  • Availability for nights, weekends, and late night hours

 

Preferred

  • Experience in electronic music venues, festivals, or touring environments

  • Background in bar operations or beverage programs

  • Experience working directly with promoters and talent teams

  • Familiarity with scheduling and POS systems (e.g., Toast, Sling)

  • TABC certification

Salary Range

$75,000 - $120,000
