A&R Data Researcher / Artist Research Assistant

UPNOW Media is looking for a remote part-time A&R Data Researcher / Artist Research Assistant to support its electronic music label operations.

UPNOW Media works across independent music labels, artist development, marketing, distribution and catalog development. Its label universe includes Bar 25 Music, Sounds Of Sirin and TalkTalk Records.

The role is focused on structured artist research and A&R support. The successful candidate will help identify relevant artists, research artist profiles, check genre and label fit, collect links and contact information, monitor competitor labels and prepare qualified artist leads for internal review.

This is not a senior A&R manager role. The position is research-focused and designed to support the internal A&R team with structured, high-quality input.

Responsibilities include:

• Researching artists across Spotify, Beatport, SoundCloud, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok and other sources
• Identifying artists with potential label fit
• Monitoring competitor labels and relevant market signals
• Collecting contact data and artist links
• Preparing short artist summaries and research notes
• Updating internal A&R research systems in Google Sheets or Notion
• Delivering a regular weekly research update

Requirements:

• Strong interest in electronic music
• Understanding of independent and underground music scenes
• Excellent online research skills
• Structured documentation habits
• Confidence with Google Sheets, Notion and similar tools
• Comfort using AI tools such as ChatGPT/Claude for research and organisation
• Good written English
• Reliability and ability to work remotely

You have at least 1–2 years of practical work experience in the following areas:

• Experience in label work, A&R support, playlist curation, music journalism, artist management support or music marketing
• Familiarity with data tools such as Chartmetric, Viberate or Songstats
• Knowledge of Organic House, Deep House, House, Afro House, Indie Dance, Melodic House, Tech House or Downtempo

Time commitment: Approx. 8 to 10 hours per week to start.
