Job Title: Director, Retail Merchandise 

A little bit about our team: 

The US  Retail & Licensing team service the merchandise interests of WMX artists, as well as ‘Third Party’ artists and licenses. We live at the crossroads of music and fashion. The team is commercially focused, and you will be working with teams in creative, production and brand management daily, as well as with the Global Head of Retail & Licensing and the Senior Director of Retail to grow and manage the business, coach and mentor the broader team, and take the business to the next level.

Your role: 

No day is the same on this team as we serve a diverse roster of artists and coordinate with a multitude and varied list of retail partners. Due to the small nature of the team, everyone has a voice and the ability to contribute ideas. Here you’ll get to: 

  • You will work with the Global Head of Retail & Licensing and the Senior Director of Retail to strategize and execute a large number diverse retail programs across our roster 

  • You will work closely with internal stakeholders across creative, production, brand management and finance to resolve issues and queries 

  • You will be requesting product set ups and communicating regularly with the production team to ensure orders are successfully fulfilled

  • You will be responsible for sending product set ups to retailers in a timely manner

  • You will be liaising with the creative and brand management teams regarding the creative decks needed to service our retailers

  • You will lead real time communication with 10+ accounts/vendors to maintain VIP customer service

  • You will be responsible for keeping track of all buyer requests and preferences

  • You will be responsible for driving a large portion of the departments sales and ensure we deliver on our margin expectations  

  • You will manage order approval requests; which includes receiving order requests from buyers and requesting approval from product managers for each order, by retailer, monitoring/communicating approval completion as well as escalating pending approval requests on a weekly basis

  • You will periodically submit art requests to the creative team, which will include receiving design requests from buyers, entering design/art requests and revisions, making sure art requests are completed per buyer direction/call outs and communicating/confirming design revisions with buyers

  • You will tackle additional sales/administrative support as needed

About you: 

  • You have a demonstrable track record in a similar role

  • You have 7+ years of experience in sales / account management

  • You have strong leadership and management skills as well as excellent commercial savvy 

  • You have experience of presenting complex proposals, to both new and existing partners; possessing dynamic presentation skills

  • You can work independently as well as within a large varied team

  • You have previous experience managing high volume buyer requests

  • You have previous experience in music merchandising or fashion/apparel industry

  • You can demonstrate in depth knowledge of retail math and sales 

  • You have a positive attitude and can demonstrate strong attention to detail, excellent organization, and strong communication skills

  • You have an extremely proactive work ethic and the ability to multi task

  • You enjoy problem solving and do not shy away from getting to the bottom of situations in order to reach your goals

  • You are a self-starter with a ton of ideas who is excited to share your vision and creativity 

  • You have contacts within the retail & licensing industry 

  • You have a high proficiency in Google Workspace

We’d love it if you also had: 

  • Experience working in music or entertainment

  • Experience working with project management tools 

  • Experience working with EDI

This position requires a minimum of 4 days per week in the office. We value in-office collaboration, which is essential for talent development and strong working relationships. #LI-Onsite Salary Range: $90,000 to $110,000 Annually Salary ranges are included for job postings where required by law. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as work experience and business needs. The pay range is subject to change at any time dependent on a variety of internal and external factors.
