Assistant, Business Affairs

The Role 

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Business Affairs Assistant to join Kobalt’s Business Affairs team in our New York office. The role will entail supporting and assisting the more senior lawyers in the business affairs team working across the company’s three divisions, Music Publishing. It will provide an excellent opportunity for the right candidate to enter the music industry and over time to learn and develop.

What You’ll Do

• Administer BA agendas using SalesForce content management system
• Draft deal proposals
• Coordinate the payment of online advances
• Drafting side letters
• Prepare and review deal summaries
• Contract administration
• Liaising with and answering general Business Affairs queries from all departments
• Generally assist the Business Affairs team with various administrative tasks

What You’ll Bring

Preferred:

• English law degree (or successfully completed the GDL) and passed the LPC
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload

Additional Skills That Could Add Value:

• Prior experience of working either in the music industry or in a legal capacity
• Passion for music and desire to work with law in the music industry

The range provided is for NYC-based hires only and will be commensurate with candidate experience. Pay ranges for candidates in other locations other than NYC may differ based on the cost of labor in that location. Pay range: $25-$26 per hour.
