Head of Events & Marketing

Job Description

Working Pattern: Open to full time or part time (3–5 days per week) depending on the candidate
Office Hours: Minimum 3–4 days per week in the Lewisham office depending on contract

Reports to: Director

The Fox & Firkin is looking for an experienced individual with a strong background in programming and promotion to lead the events & marketing team.

This role would suite someone with a background working within grassroots music venues, although we will accept candidates with extensive promoter experience.

Alongside the in-house programme at Fox & Firkin, there is significant scope for promoting shows externally through, our sister promotions company, Goodtown CIC.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the cultural and commercial direction of the venue’s programme, with a strong focus on club nights and late night events.

  • Manage and support the programming and marketing team, ensuring clear communication, strong collaboration, and effective delivery of campaigns and events.

  • Develop and deliver a forward thinking annual programme of club nights, live music, and recurring concepts alongside 2 other senior bookers.

  • Build and grow in-house club brands that drive repeat attendance and position the venue as a key South London nightlife destination.

  • Lead on marketing strategy, brand positioning, and audience development across all programmed activity.

  • Work closely with promoters, DJs, collectives, and artists to curate nights that reflect South East London’s creative community.

  • Contribute towards paid digital campaigns, specifically within Meta ad suite, to drive ticket sales.

  • Brief and manage designers, videographers, and content creators to ensure all outputs align with venue identity.

  • Manage the events team to ensure a full week of events

  • Manage approved programme and marketing budgets.

Required Experience

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience programming, promoting, or leading events within music or nightlife.

  • Experience working within independent venue environments.
  • Strong understanding of London club culture and grassroots music scenes.

  • Demonstrable experience driving ticket sales and audience growth.

  • Experience leading marketing campaigns across social, email, and paid advertising platforms, especially within Meta Ads manager.

  • Confident leadership presence and strong relationship building skills.

Desirable Experience

  • Existing relationships with South London promoters, collectives, and artists.

  • Experience managing or mentoring junior staff within programming or marketing teams.

  • Familiarity with grassroots music communities and DIY promoter networks.

  • Basic design, video editing, or content creation skills for social media promotion.

Salary Range

£36,000 to £40,000
