Being a part of IT at PPL requires a passion for technology and developing new skills. The team has core areas which include IT Development, Operations, Support and Projects.

What you’ll be doing:

You will provide DevOps services such as continuous integration, deployment, and automated environment builds with configuration management. This ensures PPL can develop new systems efficiently and maintain an optimised software development lifecycle.

You will play a key role in leading how we utilise AWS to achieve our business goals. This involves implementing either traditional AWS architecture or serverless solutions, depending on the project requirements. Your AWS expertise should not be just theoretical; it should be based on hands-on experience with APIs and microservices in a similar design pattern to ours.

You will lead by example in promoting best practices to foster the adoption of a DevOps culture. This includes advocating for version control, automation, repeatability, and reuse as standard practices within the team.

Key Responsibilities will include:

  • Define technical solutions and produce documentation to ensure operational efficiency and maintenance.
  • Provide DevOps & AWS services, challenging existing processes, and maximising tool benefits.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of current and future business system needs, offering technical support and automation where possible.
  • Maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, users, colleagues, and suppliers to ensure effective communication and service provision.
  • Stay updated on best practices, emerging technologies, and share knowledge to enhance team capability and productivity.

What’s you’ll need:

  • Experience working in a DevOps team.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS Cloud Platforms
  • Experience in creating CI/CD pipelines.
  • Proficiency in scripting, writing structured, easily maintainable scripts & code with appropriate source control.
  • Experience working with containerised applications.
  • Understanding of Software Development Lifecycle best practices for client-server product architectures, focusing predominantly on cloud-based server development.
