Bandcamp
Support Specialist
Bandcamp Remote
Bandcamp is looking for a clever, convivial individual to join our interdisciplinary, ultradedicated, unusually well-loved support team. You are a superb and compassionate communicator, obsessively detail oriented, and possess a strong desire to get to the bottom of how things work (or why they don’t). You are willing to spend the majority of your day crafting helpful messages because you, like us, believe that customer support is not a necessary evil, but rather a critical business function as powerful as any product feature. Indeed, you’re not looking for a traditional customer support role, you’re looking to learn, grow, and contribute in meaningful ways to a company whose mission you believe in. You will: Use your expert knowledge of the site to field email inquiries from an amazing (but not always 100% sober) customer base of artists, labels, and fans. Follow, review, and test new project developments to stay several steps ahead of potential support issues. Perform analyses on common problems to identify, report, and correct usability snags (and other surprises). Hone our help docs and internal processes with the objective of putting yourself out of a job reducing the support team’s load. About you: Your writing is clear, concise, empathetic and 99.9999% of the time typo-free. Your grammar is impeccable. Full stop. You are able to retain an enormous, ever-changing set of specific details, and live for the little blast of dopamine that comes from connecting the pieces. You are familiar enough with HTML/CSS/JavaScript to know when opening your browser’s page inspector will be especially illuminating. You live anywhere, but your workday overlaps with 9am-5pm PST for at least four hours. Extra credit: you are already a Bandcamp user (applicants with both Fan and Artist accounts are entitled to bonus points). How we work Our team is sprinkled throughout the world, with arms, cells, pods, what-have-yous in Oakland, Brooklyn, Montreal, British Columbia, the British Isles, Pittsburgh, Vermont, Paris, Melbourne, and Tokyo. We use a bunch of online collaboration tools to work together across time zones, and once a year we all get together in person for a week of trust falls and youthful misunderstandings (all ages welcome, no actual trust falls). We welcome/celebrate all manner of variance in ethnicity, race, culture, gender, and sexuality, and hope you’ll consider joining us! What we offer Work from anywhere. You can work for Bandcamp from wherever you want to be, so long as the wifi is strong and your schedule overlaps GMT-7 at least four hours each day. If you prefer a co-working space to your kitchen table we cover the cost, and you’re always welcome to work from one of our as-close-as-we-get-to-an-office offices in Oakland, Victoria, Brooklyn, and Raleigh. Generous vacation (as in, no set number of days). We’ll remind you to take some, if necessary. Family leave. We have common sense leave, so take what you need. If you’ve been at Bandcamp for a year, your leave is fully paid. Matched charitable donations. Health, vision, dental, 401k matching, and travel insurance, but these are country-specific, so let’s talk. >>> Click on Apply Now to be taken to the application page.

BMAT Music Innovators
Full-Stack Developer - Back end Focus
BMAT Music Innovators Remote (Europe)
About BMAT BMAT started in 2005 when a group of engineers with a passion for music decided to spin-off from an audio research lab in Barcelona. The company started with an idea – to index all the music in the world – and a mission – to better the music eco-system – and a team of nerds eager to learn how to build a successful business. Today the company has grown to more than a hundred people - spread across Barcelona, Buenos Aires, Lima, São Paulo, London, Paris, Oslo, Tel-Aviv, Johannesburg, Singapore, Tokyo and Seoul - that team up to deliver daily 1 million identifications and 3 billion matches to our partners from all over the music industry. Our Culture We love music. It makes our lives a zillion times better. And we want to give something back to her (yes, to us music is a lady). Make her life easier and her future brighter. We apply our scientific, data-infused brains to tell everyone what music has been played – so that creators get the recognition they deserve. We hear everything everywhere and tell everyone who wants to know. ‘What plays around will come back around’ we say. We believe by helping this happen we can make a positive change in the music ecosystem and enjoy talent for another million years. We are a team of pretty decent people who enjoy working with each other. We’re open-minded and well-traveled, coming from all parts of the world. We like coffee, tea, chai, and mate all the same. We’ve got rappers, producers, cello players, DJs, and songwriters. The passion for music, the excitement for technology and Barcelona as a backdrop has proven to make a good combination. We say there is a BMAT touch. We believe it has to do with being passionate, obsessive, nice, generous, honest, self-motivated, entrepreneurial, intrepid, crazy, extraordinary, creative, agile, human, friendly, smart, witty, talented, naive, optimistic, surprising, sensual, and nerdy, but not very hipster (unfortunately). What You Will Be Doing As part of the engineering team, you will work side by side with the operations team in order to offer the best user experience to our clients and develop creative solutions to satisfy their business needs. Participate in the design and planning of a brand new platform to deal with ownership metadata of millions of sound recordings. Code, test, document and maintain the platform. All About You Proficiency in Python (Proven experience) Have worked with open source web application frameworks such as Django or Flask and relational databases (PostgreSQL) Linux and git experience Experience with software design life cycle and best practices (Code Reviews, Testing) Enthusiasm, initiative, commitment, with the ability to learn independently  Bonus Track Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs Experience with Docker Experience with non-relational databases: Mongo, Elasticsearch Experience with AWS Have interest in front-end development Education Bachelor´s degree in Computer Science, Telecom Engineering, Audio Visual Engineering or similar Languages Fluency in English and Spanish You Can Enjoy Full-time position Flexibility on working hours and home office Free coffee, fruits and language classes Snacks, beers and jam sessions on Friday afternoons Becoming part of a diverse and multicultural team based in Barcelona obsessed with bettering the music industry Diverse perspectives bring about challenges and drive innovation, and innovation is kind of our thing.
