About the Role

As Artist Marketing Director, you’ll be part of the UMC team, responsible for ideating compelling marketing campaigns and leading projects for our Domestic Catalogue roster (that’s all UMA signed music released more than two years ago – plus our Distribution Labels). You’ll work closely with artists and their managers to build long-term creative digital plans, using audience insights to spark rediscovery and grow platform share over time. This role will work closely with some Aussie icons, as well as a number of other domestic artists that form part of our rich roster.  

The department develops strategies across audio, video, marketing, social, streaming, physical and product development to continually grow listenership for our Catalogue. You’ll be responsible for the planning and execution of our priority artist listener growth plans across our Domestic artists, engaging new audiences across key marketing channels & partnerships to drive fan growth as well as retain and engage existing audiences.

What you’ll do

  • Lead, plan and execute stand-out fan growth campaigns for Universal Music’s Domestic Catalogue, Distribution Labels and Artists
  • Work side-by-side with the GM – Marketing UMC and GM: UMC, as well as a wide range of cross-functional teams
  • Strategically align with international label teams, streaming partnerships, media & audience, planning & insight, and business development
  • Deliver long-term audience growth and engagement plans, making sure our marketing activity is fully integrated
  • Spot and jump on engagement opportunities—think tours, viral moments, anniversaries, new releases, synchs, moods and other rediscovery triggers
  • Set best practice for platform optimisation to help build bigger, more engaged audiences for our focus artists

About you:

  • A deep passion for music, and an understanding of the music business
  • A versatile marketer that has played a role in shaping culture and strategy (preferably within the music/entertainment industry)
  • +10 years in a similar role
  • Experience mentoring and coaching junior members within a team
  • Exceptional communicator and superior relationship building skills
  • Deadline and detail oriented
  • Thought leader with a strategic mindset
  • Degree qualification required (Marketing/Business/Arts)
