Type: Full-time

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Lighting & Sound Technician / Production Manager to join the team at an award-winning Oxford Street nightclub in Sydney.

This is a hands-on role responsible for the sound, lighting and overall technical production of the venue. You’ll work closely with the venue team, artists, promoters and external production suppliers to ensure every event runs smoothly and to a high technical standard.

The ideal candidate will have strong nightclub and live-event experience, excellent technical knowledge, and the ability to take ownership of production from planning through to execution.

Key Responsibilities

● Take overall responsibility for the venue’s sound and lighting systems.

● Operate, program and troubleshoot lighting and audio equipment.

● Manage and maintain the venue’s technical equipment and production systems.

● Program and operate MA2 / MA3 lighting consoles for shows and events.

● Advance upcoming shows and events, including technical requirements, equipment and production needs.

● Coordinate with artists, DJs, promoters, production companies and external suppliers.

● Organise and oversee external production requirements for events.

● Manage production schedules, and technical logistics.

● Coordinate load-ins, soundchecks, setups and pack-downs.

● Ensure all production equipment is correctly installed, tested and operational before events.

● Troubleshoot technical issues during events and provide quick solutions when required.

● Maintain an organised inventory of production and technical equipment.

● Work with management to identify equipment upgrades, repairs and improvements.

● Ensure all production activities are carried out safely and in accordance with venue requirements.

● Support special events, functions and larger-scale productions held at the venue.

● Act as the main technical point of contact for production-related matters.

Skills & Experience

Essential:

● 3–5+ years’ experience in nightclub, live events, concerts or entertainment production.

● Strong experience with MA Lighting consoles, particularly MA2 and/or MA3.

● Strong understanding of professional sound and lighting systems.

● Ability to troubleshoot audio, lighting and technical issues independently.

● Experience working in a busy nightclub or live-event environment.

● Strong organisational and communication skills.

● Ability to work independently and take ownership of production.

● Comfortable working late nights, weekends and event schedules.

● Strong attention to detail and a practical, problem-solving approach.

Highly Desirable:

● Experience with high end professional audio sound systems.

● Experience with high end professional amplification systems.

● Experience working with DJs, touring artists and promoters.

● Experience managing external production suppliers and crews.

● Experience with large-scale events, festivals or special events.

● Knowledge of networking, DMX, Dante and other audio/lighting control systems.

● Experience with production advancing and technical riders.

The Ideal Candidate

We’re looking for someone who is technically strong, reliable and proactive — someone who can take ownership of the venue’s production rather than simply operate equipment.

You’ll be comfortable moving between programming lights, managing sound, troubleshooting equipment, advancing shows and coordinating external production teams.

If you have a passion for music, nightlife and live production and want to play a key role in one of Sydney’s leading Oxford Street venues, we’d love to hear from you.
