Job Description

The Role

Kobalt Music Publishing is looking for a Coordinator to join our Contract Administration team. You will play a crucial role in interpreting and onboarding client agreements, as well as managing copyright ingestion into our internal systems. We are looking for a highly accurate, self-motivated team member who can effectively collaborate with other team members and key cross functional partners to ensure the integrity of our claims and accurate administration.

What You’ll Do

  • Serves as an advanced cross-trained team member, leveraging deep system knowledge and workflow mastery across both agreement and work process streams to act as a high-level execution resource and primary owner of key operational tracking boards.
  • Interprets and onboards key agreement terms from new long-form contracts into Kobalt’s bespoke publishing operations system, with primary focus on more complex or involved agreements
  • Ingests copyrights (whether as part of a client signing or ongoing song deliveries) into Kobalt’s proprietary system
  • Helps track and manage any conditional amendments to ongoing Kobalt publishing agreements
  • Assists the wider Administration departments within Kobalt in the interpretation and implementation of contractual terms in our client agreements
  • Makes relevant system updates as required for amended agreement terms
  • Ingests works via our proprietary automated pipelines 
  • Works closely with Business Affairs to attend handover meetings and advise on the feasibility of proposed contractual terms for new clients
  • Supports the wider department’s strategic initiatives as we work to streamline catalog processes related to the successful administration of our client agreements
  • Proactively updates Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure our processes are documented and up-to-date

What You’ll Bring

Preferred:

  • Previous experience reading and interpreting music publishing contracts as well as 2+ years of experience in music publishing.
  • High level of written and spoken English and good communication skills are essential: the duties require a very high level of internal communication, and we are looking for someone who is able to adapt communication to audience
  • Tech-savvy with competency in GSuite software
  • Advanced skill in Microsoft Excel 
  • Obsessive attention to detail, analytical, and investigatory skills
  • Experience with SQL a plus, but not required

What Success Looks Like

  • By Month 1: You will be entering works into the system and will have processed admin agreements on your own
  • By Month 3: You will be entering works into the system both manually and with automated processes, processing admin agreements and other types as needed regularly
  • By Year 1: You will have established yourself as an integral part of the team structure, connected with global coworkers on projects, be able to work independently with little to no supervision for completing tasks successfully
