Department Description

With a global footprint, the Universal Music Group Rights Product & Services Team designs, develops, delivers, maintains & supports technical solutions which enable the capture and maintenance of contracts relating to repertoire delivery (predominantly artist contracts), the assignment of repertoire (e.g. recordings & singles/albums) delivered under those contracts, and the management of the rights we have to exploit that repertoire on the artist’s behalf. This information is made available to the supply chain via APIs, so that they can target the appropriate partners and ensure repertoire is only made available according to the rights we have.

The team continuously collaborates with our international business teams to deliver innovative solutions as well as supporting best practices and new processes for a better ‘rights’ experience.

We are currently on the home straight of a project to fully replace an existing legacy ‘rights’ system. Once this is complete, we have several exciting projects on the horizon, including integration with Royalties and AI-assisted contract capture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop a sound knowledge of the business domain across the Rights applications.
  • Produce business models in the form of data and process models.
  • Document and agree business requirements with end users and other stakeholders.

  • Liaise with the Design team to architect the solutions to these business needs.
  • Collaborate with the Build team to functionally design the solution.
  • Work with user communities to ensure complete understanding of proposed solutions to their requirements and to obtain sign-off on these solutions.
  • Provide analysis support during the technical delivery process.
  • Plan and be involved with system testing.
  • Develop User Acceptance Test plans and manage the UAT process.
  • Define the implementation approach and manage the business change to ensure the adoption of the developed solution to achieve the business benefits.
  • Design & document appropriate migration/cutover strategies.
  • Triage tickets to form up application service packs that are appropriate for the needs of our business community.
  • Train users in the use the applications and facilitate application roll-outs.
  • Ongoing support of the systems/applications, including issue investigations and user queries.
