Our Work Experience Programme

The Amplify U Work Experience Programme is a structured, paid three-month opportunity for individuals aged 18 and over who are interested in exploring a career in the music industry. Participants will join a specific department, gain practical experience supporting live business activity, and develop professional skills through on-the-job learning, networking and development opportunities.

The Role

As a Global Finance Assistant, you'll support the day-to-day activities of the Global Finance team while gaining exposure to the financial operations of the world's leading music company. Working alongside experienced finance professionals, you'll contribute to live projects, build your technical and professional skills, and develop an understanding of how global finance supports UMG's business.

Universal Music Group is the world's leading music company, committed to artistry, innovation and entrepreneurship. Our Global Finance team supports the UMG CFO, UMG Board and finance leaders across our operating companies worldwide.

During your placement, you'll gain insight into two core functions of the Global Finance team: Global Financial Reporting and Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A).

What you'll be doing

Financial Reporting

  • Support the coordination of the global finance submission process.

  • Assist with monthly consolidation activities by working with finance teams across international markets.

  • Help prepare reconciliations, reports and analysis during monthly, quarterly and forecasting cycles.

  • Support the maintenance and continuous improvement of finance processes and controls.

Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)

  • Assist in preparing monthly management reporting and presentations.

  • Extract reports from finance systems to support regular and ad hoc analysis.

  • Help provide commentary and analysis across key business performance areas.

  • Support the Global FP&A team with additional analysis and reporting as required.

Who you are

  • Aged 18 or over at the time of application.

  • Interested in building a career in finance and the music industry.

  • Curious, proactive and eager to learn.

  • A collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills.

  • Able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel (or equivalent).

  • Analytical with good attention to detail.

  • Organised, adaptable and able to prioritise multiple tasks.

  • Able to manage your workload and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
