The company was founded by Pasquale Rotella and has been based in Los Angeles since it was formed in 1993.
THE ROLE
Insomniac is currently seeking an Operations Manager who focuses on back of house (BOH) operations. This person is detail oriented and experienced in managing multiple departments within the operations within the back of house areas of Insomniac concerts. They are able to pre plan and execute upon plan in a way that is the most effective for Insomniac’s festival model. This position will report to the Senior Festival Producer. This is not a remote position and will be required to report into our office on a hybrid schedule.
RESPONSIBILITIES
EVENT PLANNING
Manage all departmental planning and execution of back of house operations
Partner directly with the Festival Promoter and Producer to adjust as necessary to meet all goals
Build radio channel matrix, communicate equipment order quantities, schedule radio pick-up hours, and work with radio vendor to execute equipment requirements on-site
Partner with Site Production to ensure all departments have enough workspace on-site
Manage all load-in and/or truck stop operations, which entails hiring a Gate Guard or Truck Stop Manager, creating a load-in operations plan, and making sure all load-in materials are in place to carry out proper procedures
Forecast staff catering needs, bid and employ staff catering vendors, produce accurate meal projections, and collaborate with the vendor(s) to construct dining operations
Build a staff advancing plan & timeline in collaboration with the site management, and lead the advancing team to execute and advance needs with all Insomniac staff and vendors
Partner with our travel agency to ensure adequate, cost-efficient travel accommodations for all staff, and assess hotel requests to ensure adherence to Insomniac’s travel policies
Create the staff guide and ensure it is distributed to all departments on site per show
Ensure OSHA-certified PPE is readily available to staff on-site
On-site festival responsibilities will be to manage the production and operations runner, be an information hub for all staff and vendors, and work with Producer to coordinate daily production meetings and help track timeline progress
Assist other departments on site as needed
REPORTING
This department has the responsibility to look after the budget and operations of: credentials, catering, radios, travel & hotels, office assignments, artist dressing rooms, artist hospitality, artist lounge, artist relations, and artist transportation
The departmental forecast will be the responsibility of this manager with the ultimate goal of finishing out a show under budget or meeting budget
CREDENTIALS & GUEST LISTS
Manage festival guest list requests and operations, and audit allocations
Partner closely with the Procurement Manager to bid BOH assets & operations
Oversee the creation, order, and distribution of all credential assets
Design festival credential plan and asset order timeline with FOH and Project Managers, and facilitate a festival access control plan by creating credential boards with the support of the Security Director
Estimate staff and artist parking capacities, and communicate needs to FOH and Project Managers to acquire sufficient parking lot space
Forecast, compile, and manage all credential, catering, and radio requests for each assigned show
Oversee and help facilitate our staff, guest list, artist, and media check-in locations by making sure the hours of operations are efficient, the proper credentials are sufficiently ordered, and the check-in managers have properly staffed each check-in location
Build out credential check-in system, and train credentials staff to use system, manage uploads, and audit requests
ARTIST RELATIONS & LOGISTICS
Manage and work with Artist Relations, Hospitality, Transportation, and Dressing Room team leads to ensure successful operation
Review artist hospitality rider requests, and ensure costs are aligned with the show budget
Fulfill artist dressing room needs by ordering adequate infrastructure to accommodate artist requirements, and hiring an artist decor team to maintain the Insomniac and/or Festival brand aesthetic
Manage an artist lounge team, help curate activations and vendors that align with the festival brand, and establish an experiential artist space
Collaborate with Front of House Manager and Artist Transportation Manager to implement an Artist Transportation traffic route
GENERAL
Recruit, hire, train and develop operational support team members
Frequent travel will be required (economy)
QUALIFICATIONS
5+ years of event coordinating/planning and execution
Proficiency in spreadsheets
Ability to effectively manage groups of staff
Must be motivated with an “Everything is possible” attitude
Must be an active problem solver, instilled with a sense of urgency for projects large and small
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Must be able to tolerate loud noise levels & busy environments
May work in drastic temperature climates
Must be willing to travel frequently to work events during holidays, evening and weekend hours, as required, to meet deadlines

Salary Pay Range: $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 USD
