Job Description

Founded in 2001, Resident Advisor (RA) is one of the world's longest-running music media brands and a cornerstone of the dance, electronic and DJ ecosystem. The site's audience of over 6 million monthly users is drawn in by a combination of news, editorial, club listings and ticketing, RA-branded events at venues and festivals worldwide, original films and a weekly mix series that has run for 18 years. 

 

Purpose of the role:

We’re looking for a Midweight Designer to define how Resident Advisor communicates visually across social, bringing electronic music culture to life through distinctive digital storytelling. This role sits within the design team, alongside a Motion Designer and Creative Technologist who lead experiential work across our platform. Working closely with the Art Director, you will take ownership of how Resident Advisor shows up visually across social platforms. You will shape and evolve our social design language while contributing to editorial outputs, including feature headers and digital layouts. You will combine strong graphic fundamentals across typography, layout and image-making with motion capability and digital fluency. You understand how design behaves across platforms, how audiences engage with visual culture, and how to push creative standards forward while maintaining the clarity and authority of a leading music platform. This is a hands-on role for someone who cares deeply about typography, music culture and visual storytelling. You should be able to translate the energy of electronic music into visual form, creating work that connects with an ever-growing and constantly evolving global electronic music audience. You feel motivated to set new, progressive standards for contemporary visual language within music and internet culture.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Own the creation of static and motion assets across Instagram, TikTok, X and emerging platforms, ensuring work is culturally aware and platform-native while keeping inline with RA design guidelines look and feel.
  • Push the look and feel of social design while maintaining alignment with RA’s broader brand system.
  • Design feature headers and supporting digital assets for long-form editorial, translating narratives into strong visual compositions, working directly with the editorial team.
  • Create motion assets and lightweight animations that enhance storytelling and audience engagement.
  • Balance speed and craft across multiple deadlines, maintaining high standards under pressure.
  • Collaborate closely with the Art Director to evolve design systems and ensure cohesion across channels.
  • Work closely with editorial, social and partnerships teams to ensure creative alignment.

 

We’re looking for:

  • A passionate midweight designer with 3–5 years’ experience in graphic or digital design
  • A keen eye for detail, with strong typography and layout skills
  • A standout portfolio showcasing social-first thinking, digital craft, and well-considered visual systems
  • High proficiency in Figma and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects)
  • Solid experience in motion design (essential)
  • A deep understanding of how design performs across social platforms, with the confidence to push creative boundaries
  • The ability to adapt to evolving formats, audiences, and platform capabilities
  • Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to work under clear creative direction
  • Confidence working in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment while delivering accurate, timely work
  • A sharp eye for photography and video, with the ability to elevate and frame visual assets effectively
  • A genuine interest in electronic music culture and curiosity about its future direction

This role is a full-time position based at our CDMX office. The annual salary range for this role is $450,000–$500,000 MXN. If you have questions about the role, please contact work@ra.co.
