Job Description

Overview

Concord is the world’s leading independent music company. The Company supports more than 125,000 artists and songwriters whose works are licensed, marketed, and performed globally. Concord’s Copyright Department is at the core of the company’s publishing operations, ensuring that every song in our catalogue is accurately represented and protected worldwide. The Copyright Department plays a critical role in delivering comprehensive and efficient rights management administration of our music catalogues, safeguarding copyrights and maximizing revenue for all of our stakeholders.

Position Purpose:

This position is responsible for supporting a wide range of Common Works Registration (CWR) initiatives,  ensuring data quality, accuracy and compliance with industry standards.  The role will also contribute to key technology enhancements related to CWR processes and will perform comprehensive data validation, testing, troubleshooting and analysis to identify issues, optimize workflows and improve overall data integrity.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in music rights management, along with expertise in data mining, coding, analytics and business intelligence. They should be able to translate complex data findings into actionable insights that drive process improvements and informed decision-making.

Success in this role requires a growth mindset as well as someone who effectively works under general supervision.

Responsibilities

What you’ll do:

  • Review CWR data outputs to verify whether internal validation errors are accurate. Coordinate with Concord’s software vendor to resolve invalid errors and liaise with the internal Copyright teams to correct configuration issues when the errors are legitimate.
  • Investigate inconsistent CWR validation errors and rejection messages related to split copyright works.
  • Ensure that ICE registration numbers are validated and correctly reflected in the CWR output before any data backfilling begins in Concord’s rights management system.  Support the integration of this verification step into Concord’s day-to-day workflow.
  • Coordinate with Concord’s software vendor and internal Copyright teams to identify opportunities for expanding the scope of the Global CWR File feature.
  • Test and validate technology enhancements available through our software vendor, including the multi-territory deal module and other existing features.
  • Support the resolution of various ad-hoc CWR data projects.
  • Review and analyze common rejection messages across all direct CWR territories. Partner with the Copyright team to address recurring issues and improve the quality of our CWR output, reducing rejection rates.
  • Review internal work setup standards, including multiple composers under one IP chain and split copyright works, to ensure compliance with the CWR specifications.
  • Provide CWR rejection troubleshooting training and guidance to internal Copyright teams, including reading and interpreting raw CWR data.
  • Verify that Concord’s internal registration validations align with the current CWR specification.
  • Support implementation of the Musical Work Right Share Notification Standard (MWN) and integration into day-to-day workflows.
  • Assist with onboarding to new metadata services, such as the IPI Context Search.
  • Support initiatives to improve IPI coverage across new works by leveraging our access to the IPI database.

Qualifications

What you’ll need to succeed:
