The A Side: A Day in The Life

The UK Property Services department oversees most of the building and facility services across Universal Music’s UK property portfolio. Our mission is to deliver a dynamic and innovative service that goes above and beyond.

We provide services to the following buildings based in London, Greater London, Home Counties and Leeds:

  • 4 Pancras Square

  • Rolling Stones Store, Carnaby Street

  • Trinifol, Camden

  • Milton Keynes Office

  • EMI North, Leeds

  • White Hart Triangle

  • Hayes Archive Storage (Iron Mountain)

The Head of Property Services / Facilities Manager role is based at 4 Pancras Square, with occasional travel to satellite sites as required.

Reporting to the Director of Property Services, this role is responsible for the day-to-day management and operational delivery of workplace and facilities services across the UK portfolio. The role works closely with internal teams and service partners to ensure services are delivered to a high standard while supporting the wider Property Services strategy.

This is a hands-on operational leadership role, focused on ensuring services run efficiently, supporting service improvements and maintaining a high-quality workplace experience for employees, artists and guests.

Key Responsibilities

The Head of Property Services / Facilities Manager will oversee the operational delivery of the following in-house and outsourced services:

  • Cleaning

  • Security

  • Catering and hospitality

  • Welcome Desk

  • Meetings & Events

  • Switchboard

  • Postroom

  • Health & Safety

  • Audio Visual and project room management

  • Helpdesk

  • Workplace moves and office projects

  • Engineering and building services

Key responsibilities include:

  • Manage and support a team of managers and specialists responsible for the day-to-day delivery of property services, ensuring services meet agreed service standards and operational targets.

  • Monitor service performance including cost management, response times, service levels and user experience, identifying opportunities for improvement where required.

  • Support the Director of Property Services in implementing operational plans and service improvements across the property portfolio.

  • Work closely with internal stakeholders including Finance, Tech Support, Network, Procurement, Legal, Insurance, PIC, Communications, Artist Relations and Executive Assistants to ensure services meet business needs.

  • Manage relationships with outsourced facilities providers and contractors, ensuring services are delivered in line with agreed KPIs, SLAs and budget expectations.

  • Support the procurement, tendering and review of facilities service contracts to ensure value for money and consistent service quality.

  • Assist with the management of the Property Services budget, including monitoring spend, supporting forecasting and identifying cost efficiencies where appropriate.

  • Maintain strong working relationships with landlords and managing agents to ensure operational alignment and compliance with lease requirements.

  • Act as an ambassador for compliance, health & safety and security standards across the workplace, working with internal teams to ensure policies and procedures are followed.

  • Support sustainability initiatives and ensure services align with environmental and corporate responsibility objectives.
