Repertoire Insight Analyst

Perm, Full Time

(Hybrid working role, office-based minimum 3 days a week)

Context of the Role

PPL receives registrations for over 50,000 recordings a week from its rightsholder members, and over 100 million lines of usage data from its licensees a year. These volumes continue to grow each year, and as a non-profit organisation, managing these data volumes to ensure accurate but efficient and timely distributions of royalties to PPL’s members is a challenge. That’s where the Repertoire analysts come in – helping the wider business make sense of this data, and utilising reports that your team build to enable the management and prioritisation of work and the assessment of potential risk or issues.

You will work within the Repertoire department, a team of music loving people dedicated to managing data in order to pay performers and rightsholders the money they are entitled to from the use of their music in public.

You will be dedicated to building reporting tools and providing insights for complex data sets relating to music usage, rights ownership and performer line-up data to challenge existing ways of working and to improve business processes.

Key Accountabilities

To work under the direction of your manager to support the delivery of high quality regular and ad hoc reporting and analytics service to the business, enabling key statistics and insights to be identified clearly, quickly and accurately; To maintain the reporting of accurate and meaningful departmental statistics, for internal and external use; To build reports and dashboards using technologies such as Tableau; To support the data analysts in interpreting licensee music returns data in order to identify trends, patterns and anomalies; To investigate apparently anomalous, incorrect or incomplete data in order to identify the root causes and any remedial actions required; To work effectively with colleagues within the team to ensure the necessary reporting and data are readily available; To obtain a full understanding of repertoire processes, systems and metrics in order to ensure reporting and analysis are accurate and complete; To develop effective working relationships with internal colleagues across PPL’ To provide accurate, professional and timely responses to communications from internal stakeholders and external licensees; To support system implementations and development, in order to ensure these meet all repertoire requirements and expectations; To proactively manage personal development, in order to increase performance levels and provide opportunities for career development; To contribute where relevant to departmental or inter-departmental initiatives and projects.

What you’ll need:

  • Experience of working in a complex, high volume, data analysis and reporting environment

  • Experience of producing analytical and reporting outputs (regular and ad hoc)

  • Professional Excel experience

  • Proficient user of SQL and able to design queries

  • Experience of report building and dashboard creation (eg Tableau)

  • Adept in research skills (thorough analysis of primary and secondary data, identifying and delivering to stakeholder requirements in timelines required)
