Head of A&R

Job Description

Berlin (In-Person)

Otherworldly Artists is a booking agency built for artists shaping the future of live and electronic music. We exist to develop careers with longevity, grounded in taste, discipline, and cultural clarity. We’re looking for someone who thinks deeply about artist signing and long-term development, and who already has a point of view on how to scale a roster sustainably without compromising identity, cohesion, or intent.

We’re inviting a Head of A&R to join our Berlin office in person on a salaried basis. This is a senior leadership role for someone with exceptional taste, a high-trust international network, and a proven track record of identifying, securing, and developing artists at the highest level.

This position carries real influence over the direction and future of Otherworldly. You will define and lead the agency’s A&R function, identifying emerging movements early, building relationships with the key cultural nodes shaping the landscape, and curating a roster that strengthens our position globally. You will work in close alignment with the wider team to ensure every signing is intentional: strategically coherent, culturally resonant, and supported by long-term touring vision.

This role is for someone who already operates with senior-level authority. You understand what it takes to build careers, not moments. You have trusted relationships across the ecosystem: artists, managers, labels, promoters, tastemakers, curators. You know how to translate cultural insight into successful signings, meaningful live strategies, and long-term growth. Most importantly, you are disciplined, someone who curates with conviction, not volume.

The role is strategic, we’re looking for a leader who can build the infrastructure required to scale A&R properly: creating the right systems, pipelines, and decision-making frameworks that allow ambition to grow without dilution. You should be confident sourcing and securing leading talent across live and electronic music, and shaping the conditions for those artists to thrive over the long term.

Our ambition is clear: to build an agency that is sustainable, forward-thinking, and culturally essential. That means challenging outdated booking models, investing in stronger structures, and building a roster that genuinely represents the future, not simply the present. The Head of A&R is central to that ambition.

We are looking for someone with previous experience signing and breaking artists or someone with an exceptional background in music marketing / PR who is deeply fluent in cultural discovery, talent acquisition, and artist positioning, and ready to translate that expertise into a decisive A&R leadership role.

The Role

You will:

  • Define and lead Otherworldly’s A&R function - setting the vision, standards, and long-term identity of the roster

  • Curate with discipline and conviction ensuring every signing strengthens cohesion, intent, and global positioning

  • Identify emerging movements early and build trusted relationships with the cultural nodes shaping the future of live + electronic music

  • Lead end-to-end artist signing: scouting, evaluation, internal advocacy, negotiation, deal structuring, onboarding, and long-term development planning

  • Translate cultural insight into outcomes: high-impact signings, meaningful live strategies, and long-term career growth

  • Work in close alignment with the wider agency team to ensure every signing is supported by touring vision, infrastructure, and long-range planning

  • Build and maintain senior, high-trust relationships across the ecosystem (artists, managers, labels, promoters, festivals, tastemakers, curators)

  • Create the A&R infrastructure required to scale sustainably: systems, tracking, pipeline development, priorities, and decision-making frameworks

  • Bring forward proactive A&R strategy: scene mapping, target lists, roster adjacency logic, and partnership opportunities

  • Help shape a forward-thinking agency model - challenging outdated booking approaches and building structures that support longevity and excellence

Who This Is For

You are likely:

  • A senior A&R leader / agent / manager with a proven record of identifying, securing, and developing artists with long-term trajectory

  • OR someone with an exceptional background in music marketing / PR, deeply fluent in cultural discovery, talent acquisition, and artist positioning - ready to translate that expertise into decisive A&R leadership

  • Exceptionally well-connected internationally, with trusted relationships across artists, managers, labels, promoters, and cultural tastemakers

  • Deeply embedded in the future-facing live + electronic landscape, with taste that is disciplined, intentional, and culturally literate

  • Able to balance instinct with structure: you can spot talent early, then build the conditions for that talent to thrive long-term

  • Comfortable operating with senior authority - confident influencing outcomes at the highest level with artists, teams, and partners

  • Motivated by building something culturally essential and sustainable

What We Offer

  • A salaried senior leadership position based in Berlin (in-person)

  • Meaningful influence over the future direction and identity of Otherworldly

  • The opportunity to define and build a modern A&R function with real infrastructure and ambition

  • A culturally serious environment grounded in taste, trust, and long-term thinking

  • A global agency network and platform to support international growth

  • The chance to help set a new standard for how booking agency A&R is done, forward-thinking, disciplined, and artist-first

Please Note

  • This role is in-person in Berlin

  • We are only accepting applications from candidates with significant A&R experience and an exceptional international network (or exceptional equivalent experience in top-level marketing/PR with proven talent acquisition and positioning capability)
