Freelance Festival Scenic Designer - Kala Festival, Dhermi, Albania (Remote + Onsite)

The Role

Kala Festival is looking for a Scenic Designer who can respond to briefs, create concept drawings and renders, and ultimately produce technical plans and procurement lists for new stages, sculptures, and decor elements on site in Dhermi, Albania.

The designer would be involved throughout the creative process, from ideation to delivery. We are looking for someone who knows when to take direction and who is also comfortable and experienced in contributing their ideas when required.

Critically, we are looking for someone who understands unified design in club culture contexts, is part of the scene we have grown from, and appreciates the artists we platform at Kala.

You would be joining us at an exciting new phase in the development of the festival.

Necessary skills and experience

• Demonstrate a clear understanding of Kala, its audience and artists, as well as the wider scene that it has grown from.

• Able to produce concept drawings and/or renders in response to a brief, contributing to ideation when required

• Able to produce technical drawings to a high tolerance using their preferred CAD program.

• Able to deliver procurement lists in response to their technical designs which are efficient and accurate, including timber and metal, decor materials and consumables.

• Highly budget conscious, and brings financial awareness into their contribution to the ideation and technical phases of the design process.

• Be comfortable working with sustainable and natural materials wherever possible

• Able to produce a portfolio of relevant work alongside your CV in response to this ad.

• Have the right to work in the UK and a valid passport until the end of 2027
