Doors Open UNLOCKED: Artists with Leland

Doors Open UNLOCKED: Artists with Leland is for independent electronic musicians who are actively making and releasing music, but who want to build sustainable income beyond gigs, especially by learning how to create music for film/TV, documentary, brands, and other media.

This is a free programme delivered by Doors Open (CIC) with support from Arts Council England, in partnership with Resident Advisor. Unlocked: Artists with Leland is a hands-on programme helping working musicians build sustainable, diversified careers beyond performance income through practical skills, real briefs, industry insight and feedback. The programme starts with a one day seminar on Thursday 18th June.

Why This Matters

Today’s professional musicians face a worsening economic and well-being crisis:

• 43% of UK professional musicians earn under £14,000 a year from music, and nearly half worry they may have to leave the industry due to financial pressures.
• Post-Brexit, touring the EU is widely reported as no longer financially viable, with 70%+ saying their income from EU gigs has declined.
• Over 70% report anxiety or panic attacks, and nearly 70% report depression, with low pay strongly correlated with poorer well-being.
