We are proud to announce our brand new look and official transition to a Community Interest Company!
DOORS OPEN - LINKEDIN - INSTAGRAM - FACEBOOK - YOUTUBE
While Doors Open has been operating as a not-for-profit for the past few years, the move to becoming an official CIC - along with our recent B Corp certification - solidifies our commitment to the Doors Open mission: to create a fairer employment landscape for a more diverse workforce. ICYMI: 100% of Doors Open’s profits are reinvested into creating opportunities and resources to help individuals find their dream job in the music industry, and our events are always free to attend.
Our rebrand also includes a relaunch of the Doors Open YouTube channel, which will host content from our programmes, skill-sharing masterclasses, and top tips from experts in the industry. The first online content mini series will be published in full in collaboration with creative content agency Mutual Friends - the first episode of which is now online here! The online 4-part online workshop video series is for those who would like to learn more about becoming a freelance photographer, videographer or content creator - people with a passion to create and curate, but that don't know how to get started or go full time.
At the core of the Doors Open mission is a dedication to building a fairer employment landscape. Doors Open exists to support both job seekers and employers by providing the tools and opportunities needed to foster a more diverse and inclusive music workforce.
The music industry offers a wide range of career paths, but not everyone has equal access to them. Doors Open was created to address this issue and drive equitable change within the community. By expanding access to career opportunities, work experience, and resources, the platform seeks to break down barriers and help those from underrepresented backgrounds thrive in the music industry.
Growing up in the South Wales Valleys, I had very little knowledge of the electronic music industry or the various roles behind the scenes until my late 20s—let alone how to access those positions or navigate closed networks. Doors Open aims to demystify and improve access to these roles and opportunities, making it easier for people from underrepresented regions and backgrounds to pursue careers in electronic music outside of being an artist or producer.

Developing our programme of initiatives has crystallised for us how important it is to create projects which not only spark hope and inspiration, but that lead into viable career pathways and tangible positive outcomes for people with a range of learning styles and abilities. It’s been incredibly motivating to retain contact with the amazing people that come through our programmes and follow their progress through the music industry.
