The Glossary: Booking Agent at One House Artist | Barry Davies

What does a booking agent do?

Booking agents connect the dots between artists, venues and promoters. We handle all aspects of an artists live touring from A-Z.

What makes a great booking agent?

Every agent has different ways of working but patience, connections and a keen eye for detail are all very important. Obviously a love of music is a must.

What are the basic professional requirements for a successful booking agent?

The ability to read and write is a good starting point! Must be a strong multitasker and be able to handle many fast-paced projects simultaneously. A strong understanding of the field you work in is essential.

What are the common misconceptions about the role of a booking agent?

There is a general misconception of jobs in the music industry being all fun and games - I can assure you that it isn't. A good booking agent has their artists long term interests at heart rather than their short term financial gains. I am lucky that I get to travel a lot and meet lots of inspiring people however there is also lots of pressure on your shoulders, especially when you are emotionally invested in the artist you represent.
