Taking place from April 29th through May, June and July, Forward in Sound is open to women and trans, non-binary and gender non-conforming people. The project will see six successful applicants undertake a bespoke sound engineering course developed by Saffron and Sound Services then undertake a range of work experience placements designed to help kickstart a career in live sound engineering. Participation bursaries will be given to each participant to help ease the financial strain of taking time to learn a new profession.
This project is designed for aspiring sound engineers who want to gain practical knowledge and paid industry experience to launch their career working within live events. No experience is necessary to apply, but a foundational understanding of the role and what it entails is essential.
For this reason, we will be hosting an online webinar and Q&A demystifying the role of the live sound engineer on Wednesday 27th March, 6:30-7:30pm. Attendance is highly advisable, but the session will also be recorded and made available to watch afterwards if anyone is unable to attend the live event.
This programme is funded by Doors Open and RA, with additional support from Sound Services, Full Fat Audio and Funktion One.
