Today we launched Doors Open: Unlocked Online - an online 4-part workshop series taking a deep dive into key employment areas of the music industry.
The inaugural free 4-part online workshop series, hosted by creative content agency Mutual Friends, is for those who would like to learn more about becoming a freelance photographer, videographer or content creator. It’s aimed at those with a passion to curate and create, but who don’t necessarily know how to get started or go full time.
The series will be split into the following sections:
Session 1, Tuesday 9th July - Getting Started: all the ideas and none of the gear?
Session 2, Tuesday 16th July - Landing the Job: More than just a hobby
Session 3, Tuesday 23rd July - Connections & Clients: forget who you know, who knows you?
Session 4, Tuesday 30th July - Delivery: It's not over 'til it's over
The free workshops are for people aged 18 and above. Applicants from FLINTA, POC and LGBTQI+ communities, as well as with visible and non-visible disabilities and/or from lower-income households, will be prioritised. The application process opens on June 17th and closes on July 2nd. All applicants will find out if they're successful by July 4th.
Launched in 2022, Mutual Friends is aiming to transform the way that freelance content is created and managed. Past clients include Universal Music Group, fabric and Sony Music. The agency's founders Liam Smith and Lawrence Jones will be hosting the workshop.
Apply here. You can apply in writing, or you can record yourself via audio or video and include links under each question. If you have any specific access needs relating to the application process or the project itself, please contact iona@doorsopen.co.
