Job Description

Job Purpose 

The Seasonal Merchandise Operations Coordinator is active in all areas of the SXSW Merchandise operation, from concept to sales. With an emphasis on logistics and operations, the purpose is to assist the Sr. Merchandise Manager in the execution, production, and operation of the merchandise program for SXSW. This includes, but is not limited to, all wholesale, online, and retail store locations. 

 

Duties & Responsibilities 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:  

  • Support overall merchandise operation, contracts, accounting, and admin 

  • Oversee pop-up stores and mobile merch truck operations

  • Develop and execute onsite floor plans for the best customer experience

  • Coordinate onsite logistics, receiving and distribution of all merch-related products, as well as signage deliveries during the event

  • Execute online and wholesale day-to-day operations and customer service

 

On-Site Responsibilities    
  • Help with load in and load out of all merchandise-related items 
  • Visit the Warehouse before or after the event as needed 
  • Execute merchandise plans and visual displays at all sales locations, including signage deliveries
  • Assist with marketing promotions and content creation
  • Liaise with vendors, staff, and clients 
  • Deliver stellar customer service
  • Work shifts and support other departments onsite as necessary

 

Qualifications & Skills  
Qualifications include: 
  • Event production experience or Merchandising experience
  • An eye for design and interest in fashion or event merchandise
  • Customer service oriented 
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Self-motivated with strong problem-solving abilities 
  • Familiarity with Shopify is a plus 
  • Knowledgeable of Google Suite

 

Physical Requirements 
Must be able to thrive in a quick-paced, often high-stress environment and walk long distances around the convention center and downtown area during the event. Frequently required to sit/stand for long periods. Occasional lifting of up to 40 pounds with or without accommodation. Ability to stay upwards of 10 consecutive days/nights away from home to support the onsite event

 

Work Location & Schedule 
The position is located in Austin, Texas. Core business office hours are Mon-Fri, 10 am – 6 pm. Must be available to work additional hours during SXSW, including evenings and weekends.
