Job Description

3MBS Melbourne 103.5FM is an inclusive and innovative community broadcaster that strives for the highest quality in programming and presenting classical music and jazz, and in supporting and promoting local artists and performances. The station delivers a diverse range of classical, jazz and genre-related programs to over a quarter of a million monthly listeners.

Based at the beautiful Abbotsford Convent, 3MBS Melbourne is a large not-for-profit community broadcaster that does not receive operational government funding. Revenue is generated primarily through sponsorship, private giving, Trusts and Foundations, subscriptions, and live performances. The team consists of a small number of paid staff and approximately 200 dedicated volunteers who work to ensure the station's operations for the benefit of the community.

Position Description

3MBS Melbourne is looking for an experienced sales professional who is passionate about developing business opportunities to grow the station's partners and business supporters. The ideal candidate must have a positive and proactive disposition, enjoy working within a highly functioning  team and who has the knowledge and personable skills to ensure monthly income targets are met.  You will feel part of a community who loves music and the arts and who work together for the benefit of all Melburnians.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Business Development Manager to identify new business opportunities, including increasing our advertising partners, promoting our recording, rehearsal and video services and to enlist new corporate supporters of our classical events.
  • Build a rapport and manage relationships with our existing sponsors.
  • Prepare and distribute sponsorship proposals for existing and potential partners.
  • Follow leads and opportunities through every step of the sales cycle.
  • Coordinate and attend client meetings and appointments both in person and via Microsoft Teams.
  • Maintain and keep the CRM up to date, documenting all customer interactions and progress of new business opportunities.
  • Work within a supportive team, collaborating with other areas of the business to ensure a highly functioning and enjoyable workplace for all. 

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a sales role and reaching monthly targets.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage pipeline.
  • Strong work ethic, independence, and collaborative skills.
  • Able to communicate in all situations effectively.
  • Sound computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft suite and CRM software
  • Passion for music, the arts and community work is desirable but not essential

Salary Range

$65,000 – $68,000
