The VP, A&R Operations responsibilities may include, but will not be limited to:

What you'll do:

Oversee the day-to-day Business Operations of the A&R department.  Including:

  • Responsible for delivery of cleared audio to production by release date.  Attends weekly production meetings to report on audio status. Tracks release dates (and changes) & delivery deadlines.  Communicates and trouble shoots delivery issues with A&R, BA Admin, BA, Release planning. 
  • Oversees sample clearance process with BA Admin. Responsible for submitting audio, pre-sample splits, lyrics, producer information to clear. Leading weekly sample meetings on release priorities and managing queries between BA Admin and A&R. Managing artist approval on sample terms. 
  • Oversee label clearances for all signed side artists. Communicates clearance information, deadlines and updates to BA Administration. 
  • Oversight of all credits and label copy
  • Work with A&R and A&R Admin to confirm all terms (producer/writer/mixer, etc.) are agreed and papered.  Advising A&R Administration Department on confirmation of deliverables before back ends are paid to producers and mixers.
  • Work closely with A&R Admin and A&R on recording budgets and reforecasts
  • Work closely with A&R Admin and BA on option tracking and option decisions. 
  • Analyze and oversee the Master verification and archiving process for Columbia.  Create recommendations on workflow and implementation.   
  • Interfacing with IP (formerly copyright) on publishing clearances for covers, special clearances, split disputes. 
  • Interfacing with the Content Protection team on any leaks and take down.  
  • Working with Publicity department on yearly Grammy submissions.
  • Oversee and approve all Travel and T&E requests for the A&R team 
  • Coordinate agendas and schedules for the A&R Meetings 
  • Communicating to the company about new signings and drops

Who you are:

  • 7-10 years of experience in A&R Administration or A&R Operations department and aware of workflow/processes as it pertains to audio delivery and clearances.
  • Knowledge of clearances and audio technology.
  • Must be able to manage deadlines under pressure.
  • Ability to multi-task and able to work with a sense of urgency.
  • Great communication skills.
  • Must be able to exercise judgement and make decisions.

The anticipated annual base salary does not include any other compensation components or other benefits that an individual may be eligible for.  The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include as applicable, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
