The A Side: A Day in The Life

Fantastic chance to join the busy and vibrant Film & TV Sync team at Universal Music Publishing, clearing our vast catalogue to UK clients and our UMPG offices around the World. We are looking for someone hard working and friendly to join the team and help us continue to build on this growing area of sync.

The B Side: Skills & Experience

Be Organised

  • Coordinating with different parts of the company from Copyright & Business Affairs through to the creative half of the sync team to ensure opportunities run smoothly

Be Analytical

  • Produce activity reports for writers, catalogue owners and international offices as required

Be Collaborative

  • Responding to licence requests - managing the song research, negotiation, and approval process required for clearing our publishing catalogue on synch uses across all media (which may include but not limited to, charity, corporate, online, games, film, TV and advertising)
  • Working with our international offices and sub-publishers around the world to clear and licence our UK catalogue globally
  • Regularly communicating with writers and managers and developing relationships with clients
  • Occasionally attend concerts, showcases and events on behalf of the company with clients
  • Assist in managing the general licensing inbox.
  • To support the Head of Licensing and SVP Film & TV Europe with ad-hoc projects and administrative duties

Person Specification

Necessary

  • Previous experience of sync licensing and strong understanding of different music rights
  • Music industry experience from a publishing, records or music rights negotiation background
  • Excellent IT skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Pride in your attention to detail, flexible and quick to learn
  • Self-motivated with strong ability to work under own initiative, prioritise and meet deadlines
  • Hard working and able to follow instructions as well as prioritise your own workload
  • Good organisation and excellent communication skills
  • Team player
  • Calm in a busy environment and good at problem solving
  • Knowledge of Universal Music Publishing’s catalogue
  • Confident negotiator
