Job Description

Sub Club is recruiting for an experienced, dedicated and highly motivated Duty Venue Manager to join our in-house team.

This year, the Sub Club celebrates the 30th anniversary of our iconic weekly Saturday night, Subculture. Subculture is the longest-running weekly resident night in the UK, having brought some of the finest underground house & techno sounds to the dancers of Glasgow for three decades. As we approach this significant milestone, we are recruiting for an experienced, dedicated and highly motivated Duty Venue Manager to join our small in-house team, to work with us across our programme as we celebrate the 30-year legacy of Subculture and look forward to the future of electronic music and underground clubbing.

As Duty Venue Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the nightly operations of the venue, maintaining a safe and enjoyable environment for our patrons and ensuring efficient and smooth operations throughout the night. 

You will be a Personal License holder and have at least several years of experience in a managerial role within music or adjacent industry like the arts, events or hospitality. You’ll be a friendly and approachable person who is highly motivated and has a keen interest in electronic music.

This role is solely based onsite in our venue in Glasgow and is therefore only available to those based in Glasgow and surrounding areas.

 

As Duty Manager, some key duties you’ll be responsible for are;

  • Overseeing and managing the club's operations during scheduled shifts, ensuring compliance with all legal and licensing requirements.
  • Ensuring the safety and security of patrons and staff, proactively identifying and resolving any potential issues or conflicts.
  • Supervising and coordinating the work of bartenders, stewards and other nightclub staff, ensuring a high level of service and efficient operations.
  • Handling customer inquiries, concerns and complaints providing exceptional customer service and resolving issues promptly and professionally.
  • Maintain an organised and clean club environment, including monitoring cleanliness, appearance, and functionality of facilities, equipment and seating areas.
  • Monitor and enforce adherence to company policies, procedures and code of conduct by all staff members.
  • Maintain effective crowd control measures to manage capacity and maintain a safe environment.
  • Collaborate with the General Manager to develop and implement strategies to enhance the nightclub's profitability and reputation.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure compliance with health, safety and fire regulations.
  • Prepare and submit accurate reports, including nightly financial summaries, update the staff rota nightly and any incident reporting as and when required.

We are looking for someone with:

Essential

  • Previous experience in a similar role within the nightlife, hospitality or entertainment industry.
  • Must be a Personal License Holder.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively manage and motivate a diverse team.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills with the ability to handle difficult situations calmly and professionally.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and make quick decisions under pressure.
  • Sound knowledge of relevant laws, regulations and licensing requirements pertaining to nightclub operations.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends and public holidays as required is essential.

Desirable

  • Proficient computer skills, including experience with point-of-sale (POS) systems and basic office software including Microsoft Excel.
  • First Aid, SIA and any other relevant qualifications.
  • A basic understanding of current DJ technology and sound equipment. 

 

This is a part-time position requiring availability for 3-4 nights per week, as and when required including weekends and public holidays and would suit a highly motivated and passionate person with a strong interest in Electronic Music.

Salary: £15 p/h

Hours: 15-25 approx. hours per week, as and when required. 

Closing Date: Tues 16th April 2024.

Proposed Interview Date: w/c 22nd April 2024.

Proposed Start Date: w/c 29th April 2024 (or as soon as possible).
