Job Description

Beatport, a digital music platform service a global DJ community, is looking for a part-time, Berlin-based HR business partner to join our team as a one-year maternity cover. With offices in Berlin, LA, and Denver, Beatport prides itself on an active and vibrant office culture that reflects the community we serve. As such, we are looking for an individual who can help maintain and grow our corporate culture and continue to connect our offices across the pond.

The ideal candidate will have a background in HR management, has a solid understanding of German Labor and Social Security Law (Arbeits- and Sozialversicherungsrecht), and a track record for overseeing change management. This person will play a key role in the Beatport People & Culture initiatives and will infuse the energy of our brand into the company culture. This part-time arrangement includes flexibility in schedule. The right candidate would be available 16 – 24 hours per week, and be present in the office for a larger portion of that time. This could be an ideal position for someone re-entering the workspace, who may benefit from a more limited schedule at this time. Person should be comfortable in both English and German.

Willing to contract on a part-time employment basis or contractor basis, depending on the individual's preference.

Responsibilities: 

  • Advise managers and members of the executive team in reference to German labor law issues;
  • Ability to identify issues impeding team and individual growth and a sense for how to fix those problems;
  • Be the go-to person for employee concerns and issues, with an ability to help the company address such issues, giving employees confidence that these matters will be handled and heard;
  • Implementation of strategic HR topics and HR processes in the departments, including opportunities to train or coach managers, in order to create a better, and compliant, office environment;
  • Collaborate with our US-based VP, Legal & Business Affairs to further connect our remote offices and implement a consistent culture across the business;
  • Assist in recruiting and interviewing new candidates for vacant positions;
  • Comprehensive, generalist HR administration such as preparation of contracts, administer deadlines and write certificates (with the assistance of a part-time HR Admin on your side);
  • Ensuring that the People & Culture handbook and the assurances it conveys to our team, is lived and breathed throughout the office; and,
  • Being connected enough to the office to identify potential employment issues before they become a larger problem.

Requirements: 

  • At least 3 years of professional experience in an HR or Employment role
  • Solid knowledge of social security and employment law
  • Fluent in German and English
  • Competent, friendly and a positive attitude
  • Able to work independently
  • Love of music a plus
