Job Description

The Marquis N16 is a newly refurbished pub and music venue in the heart of Dalston and we are looking for a Bar Manager to be a core member of our team. Music and quality service is at the forefront of everything we do so the ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate not only a flair for great customer service, but also a close affinity to the world of music events and club nights.

A passion for craft beers is a strong asset, and a knowledge of wines and cocktails would be a plus. The right candidate would ideally have a personal license and must have a working knowledge of licensing laws along with an understanding of what is required to run a lively night venue.

We're looking for a people person, a creative and resourceful self-starter who can work independently and as part of a team. The role is a full time role (40 hours / week) with flexible hours. 

Key Skills & Experience

-Experience of day-to-day bar operations.

-Experience of late-night venue management and an understanding of licensing procedure.

-Enthusiastic, sociable and highly motivated.

-Events driven with experience within (club night, music venue or festival operations). 

-Available to work most weekends and late-nights.

-An affinity with underground, electronic music, and nightlife. 

-A knowledge of DJ equipment, installation, and cabling is a bonus. 

-Passion for craft beers, and a knowledge of wines and cocktails. 

 

Areas of responsibility

Property – Maintenance & product

-Ensure maintenance and upkeep of hygiene, cleanliness, and organizational standards of the cellar area.

-Ensure adequate levels of cleaning products and sundries etc

-Ordering of the product range in line with given margins and stock holding.

-Assist in the development of the full bar menu based on customer demand and seasonality

 

People – Training and development

-Training and development of new employees on the bar.

-Keeping team member’s training checklists up to date and training

-Coaching and development of front of house team relating to bar service

-FRA training and compliance upkeep

 

Events – Late night operations

-Assist the Music & Events Programmer to supervise sound, light, and DJ equipment requirements before and during events. 

-Hosting DJs and promoters and making sure they have a positive experience. 

-Prepare for upcoming events ensuring adequate security/staffing levels.

-Managing event cash flows and reporting these to OM

-Briefing duty management and Door staff prior to events

-Ensuring all risk assessed and legal operational requirements are followed and implemented.

Salary Range

28.000 pa + 2k bonus on objective
