Job Description

THE ROLE

The Senior Product Manager will be instrumental in leading Mixcloud’s commitment to champion creators, artists and the music industry – fairly and sustainably. You will have the opportunity to build and improve our platform serving 20+ million users around the globe. Sitting on our product team of 20, you will help build and grow Mixcloud’s core product capabilities such as creator and listener tools & dashboards, live streaming, search and discovery or community engagement features.


You will become the voice of our creators by spending time with our customers, insights & design teams to synthesise feedback. You’ll combine user research feedback, data and industry insights to help drive the strategy for where Mixcloud focuses. Mixcloud exists to help people connect through music. We’re a user generated music platform where millions of creators and cultural tastemakers from around the world upload radio shows, mixes, original tracks and livestream - all of their music in one place. We’re fully licensed, meaning artists get paid when their music is played, and there are no takedowns.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Line manage and coach 1 product manager. Ensure they are learning and developing.
  • Represent our audience of audio creators to improve and build our existing audio streaming platform.
  • Motivate and drive collaboration among design, engineering, support and marketing teams. Influence stakeholders and create consensus on team goals
  • Define user problems and research strategies. Dive deep on feedback and other data to draw out actionable insights and trends.
  • Work with teams engineering manager to track the engineering/ design team progress, project plans, and timelines
  • Prioritise the roadmap/backlog, problem solve and make tradeoffs
  • Drive revenue through iterative product development
  • Drive product improvements, productivity and quality while iterating on the product until project goals and growth targets are met
  • Product ownership of specific workstreams; including backlog grooming, triage and prioritisation, and cross-functional coordination
  • Work on all platforms of the product: Android, iOS, Desktop Web and Mobile Web
  • Identify product and project issues and potential solutions or escalate to avoid project delays
  • Identify gaps in existing workflows and recommend new procedures as needed

WHO YOU ARE

  • 8+ years of experience and 4+ years of PM experience working on consumer-facing technologies at scale
  • You’ve managed other product managers and helped them flourish.
  • You understand and care about music culture.
  • Experience developing/launching web based products within one or more of the following: B2C, SaaS, subscription based products, music technology.
  • Experience contributing to engineering discussions around technology decisions.
  • You’ve rallied small to medium sized teams and improved ways of working. You’re great at helping the team focus and distil complex goals into clear tasks.
  • User centric: Strong curiosity and empathy for users, an aim to discover and resolve their pain points
  • Excellent communication skills: Able to provide clear direction, set measurable goals and give insight on the current state of progress. You can rally a team around a goal, and effectively drive decisions where people might disagree. You don’t shy away from difficult conversations.

Nice to have:

  • Prior experience building payments, streaming or real-time interaction products
  • Experience nurturing a community
  • Prior experience working in a fast paced startup/ scale up environment
