Job Description

We are looking for an individual with experience in curating events and who is able to lead and coordinate a project team for the realization of music and art cultural events.
 
The Black Music Summit is a 4 day event and the first of its kind. Designed by Black creative industry professionals for artists, executives, fans and allies, the black music summit was created to champion, inspire and develop Black talent. We are looking for a big picture thinker with an art background to join us as an integral part of the BMS team in the position of program curator. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing and innovative team as we plan a music summit that will be taking place on the island of Ibiza in summer of 2023.
 
Who you are: 
  • Proven experience in art curation or event coordination/management
  • Can work collaboratively and manage relationships with stakeholders at all levels
  • Knowledge of current cultural debates and theoretical discourses
  • Able to conceptualize and develop a unique point of view to inform and design a multi day schedule of various panel and workshops
  • A culturally competent individual who seeks to include many voices and creates new opportunities to connect with targeted audiences.
  • Knowledge of program management and development procedures
  • High level of commitment with ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Detail-oriented and efficient
  • Reliable work ethic and professional manner
  • Tech savvy, proficient in MS Office and ClickUp program management tool, Google Drive/Docs/Sheets/Slides and adobe suite
  • UK or Berlin Based
  • You have an understanding of black music and the black community, especially in the UK, the US, and West Africa
  • Ability to communicate in English
  •  Ability to work  independently as well in a team environment
  • High levels of personal motivation and ability to thrive in a dynamic team environment.
  • Prepared to work in a fast-paced environment with plenty of opportunity
 
What you’ll do: 
  • Devise, deliver, and strategically curate a balanced program (that include panels, keynotes, workshops, and events) over the course of the 2 days of the 4 day summit
  • leverage awareness of artistic, cultural, regional, and national/international communities to inform summit programmatic arrangement
  • Develop the flow and delivery of events to ensure and promote audience learning and engagement
  • Manage a range of stakeholders' and community participants' relationships
  • Collaborate with the Production team to drive the logistical delivery of the program
  • Ensure excellent communication with all teams involved and promotion of activities to ensure smooth running.
  • Effectively managing program budgets and regular reporting.
  • Assist in the management of artist, panelists and speaker travel itineraries
  • Support the Founders as required.
 
The Black Music summit is a social enterprise created to increase cultural currency and create opportunities for black creatives with the aim to close the gap between black talent on the charts and on the executive level. This world-class summit will be a momentous occasion for the international black music community and a catalyst for continued learning for all.
