Job Description

Senior Acoustic Research & System Design Engineer (m/f/d)

Location: Berlin office, hybrid

Term: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: Depending on professional experience

Your role:

Do you have a strong passion for acoustic research and enjoy working in a small cross-functional R&D team on many acoustical concepts, both conventional and novel, seen in loudspeaker and headphone designs?
We're looking for a forward-thinking Senior Acoustic Research and System Design Engineer to join our growing pro-audio team.

You will be responsible for the acoustical research and design of our new transducers, acoustical components and systems. On a day-to-day basis, you will evaluate new technologies, concepts, materials, tools and audio processing algorithms.
Individual and team development is important to us and we will support you to grow and improve your personal knowledge and skills. We will also be looking for you to own and help improve our approach including best practices, processes and tools.

There will be opportunity to share knowledge and practices across the group.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Performing innovative design, modelling and measuring work using COMSOL, Matlab, Simulink, Klippel and the fundamentals of the Lumped, Finite and Boundary Element Methods in general.
  • Collaborating in experimental characterization and diagnostics of electroacoustic systems with practical implementation of experimental designs.
  • Developing solutions for the improvement of undesired nonlinear mechanisms which produce affects that deteriorate the sound quality.
  • Optimizing transducers, waveguides, cabinets, systems and their interactions with rooms in which they are placed.
  • Improving mechanical vibration and sound radiation of membranes, reducing parasitic vibrations of cabinets, controlling diffractions and unwanted internal standing waves or reflections.
  • Exploring technologies and alternative transducer designs to incorporate in the products enabling competitive and environmental advantages.
  • Developing and refining advanced signal processing and linearization control techniques which provide more flexibility and cost vs. performance optimization.
  • Evaluating, optimizing or developing automatic room correction algorithms.
  • Following-up the manufacturing and assembling of drivers as an active part of the project from the conception of the driver until its realization in mass production.
  • Following industry trends in material, transducer and audio technologies; identifying and evaluating new components and technologies to be demonstrated to internal stakeholders.
  • Fostering innovation by research, patent applications, lectures, internal/external collaborations and strategic partnerships.

Your profile:

  • You have a Master degree in Audio Engineering, Acoustics, Physics or a related discipline. A higher degree is a plus.
  • You have significant (5+ years) experience in researching and designing audio products.
  • You have good verbal and written communication skills in English. German is a bonus.
  • You have an objective evidence-lead approach to technical challenges and tasks.

An ideal candidate would also have:

  • Significant knowledge at the use of advanced tools, materials and technologies.
  • Experience in designing, running and analyzing listening tests.
  • Strong experience in using Klippel products, COMSOL, Matlab und Simulink.

Let us know what you would bring to the role and why you would be a great fit for the team. We look forward to receiving your application!
