Head of Engineering (m/f/d)

We’ve been growing our Engineering and Product Delivery team at ADAM Audio, and we’re creating this exciting new role to lead and support them through the next phase of growth.
At ADAM we're incredibly passionate about audio and acoustics, and we’re looking for someone to join the team and play a vital leadership role in bringing to life our roadmap of exciting new products.

What you’ll be doing
You’ll be leading and managing the Engineering team (9 people currently), which includes engineers working on Electronics, Software (embedded and desktop), Mechanics, QA and Test, and Production.
Together with your team you’ll define and deliver an Engineering strategy, with responsibilities ranging from the development and support of your people, through the establishment and improvement of working practices, to the design and delivery of new products. Working closely with Research, Product Management, Programme and Operations, you and your team will deliver products with the right balance of cost, quality, and features, to achieve a great user experience.
We have a rolling 3yr product roadmap, and we work with our own in-house manufacturing, and also Far Eastern partners. Together with the Programme team you’ll be identifying the necessary people and technical skills needed to achieve the development timelines, allocating people to each project, and hiring and engaging with contractors as necessary. You’ll support the project and product management team with cost control for each product and project, and own the engineering dept annual budget process.
Your technical background will be important, reviewing product requirements, contributing to and reviewing your team’s development approaches, understanding risks and opportunities, and supporting them in delivering each product to market. When a technical decision or problem solving support is needed, you’ll help the team work together to deliver it, ensuring the right people are involved, external support is convened if needed, and that communication and status updates are clear and timely.

You’ll report to the ADAM Audio CEO, and work closely with the Focusrite Engineering Director.

- Developing and executing an engineering strategy for the company
- Hiring, managing and mentoring a growing team of engineers
- Establishing and championing new processes and good engineering practices
- Leading teams in the efficient development, delivery and maintenance of our products
- Reviewing product requirements and technical development proposals
- Managing budgets and resource allocation
- Responsible for product quality, safety and compliance
- Cultural leadership – Take care that your team is enjoying their work and having fun delivering great products to our customers
An ideal candidate is likely to be
- Someone with a technical background, who enjoys working with people and growing teams
- Experienced in NPI product development, having successfully taken a lead role in multiple disciplines
- A good communicator who can articulate complex problems clearly to a range of audiences
- Able to make well-informed decisions under pressure
- Able to build strong working relationships and be empathetic to the needs and challenges of the various departments across the business
- Someone with a growth mindset and solution focused, with a desire to learn and improve and help others do the same
- Interested and inquisitive about audio, acoustics, and technology
- Fluent in German and English
