Job Description

Resident Advisor is the world’s foremost platform for discovering electronic music, artists and events. Described by the NY Times as “the most influential electronic music site in the world”, every month RA reaches more than 5m people across its web, mobile and app properties.

RA is seeking a highly skilled full-time news writer based in London. The candidate will be expected to perform a wide range of tasks related to the production of news, including short and long-form investigative articles. The position involves sourcing, writing and editing news on a daily basis. The candidate will be responsible for reviewing and evaluating press releases and content online to isolate pertinent facts and details. They will translate this information into stories in adherence to the RA style and editorial integrity guidelines, as well as fact-check articles prior to publishing to determine the veracity of all sources. 

The ideal candidate has the journalistic nous to chase important stories, in addition to writing accompanying copy across social platforms to motivate readership. This person, a public face for RA's presence in London, will play a leading role in helping our readers discover the best events and artists that the city has to offer.

Key responsibilities:

  • Source and write news 

  • Edit colleagues' news items for clarity, style and accuracy

  • Post news items to social media (Facebook & Twitter)

  • Write in-depth reported articles about issues that are important in electronic music today

  • Represent RA in public by attending parties and recommending local artists for features, podcasts, etc.

  • Occasionally contribute to reviews, features and the RA Exchange



We’re looking for:

  • Exceptional writing, editing and reporting skills

  • An intimate knowledge of electronic music and club culture

  • The ability to work well within a team

  • Previous experience within an editorial team or within electronic music publications is preferred but not essential

  • The ability to meet hard deadlines

This role is a full time contract and the expected salary range is £25k-30k per annum DOE.  This listing will be open for a minimum of two weeks from 5th September.
