Job Overview: 

As editor-in-chief of Beatport’s blog Beatportal you will drive the overall editorial strategy and manage the content schedule.

You will be responsible for commissioning features from a global network of freelance writers and work closely with Beatportal’s North American editor as well as with Beatport’s artist and label relations, curation and marketing teams.


This is a permanent, part time role working 24 hours a week over 3 days. 


Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Drive overall Beatportal editorial strategy
  • Manage editorial schedule, both day-to-day and overall 
  • Ensure editorial consistency and accuracy across all Beatportal content
  • Manage bi-weekly newsletter and help drive newsletter growth strategy
  • Work with Digital Marketing Coordinator on SEO strategy 
  • Work with Marketing Team to develop product-focused educational content
  • Commission and manage a global network of freelancers 
  • Manage Beatportal’s annual budget
  • Develop and maintain relationships with publicists  
  • Write & edit occasional email copy and advertising copy
  • Work closely with Beatportal’s North American Editor on all tasks


Skills & Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years experience editing and/or writing for similar outlet(s)
  • Native-level proficiency written English
  • In-depth understanding of the electronic music industry & club/rave culture
  • Extensive wordpress/CMS experience
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Eye for detail 
  • Teamwork oriented
  • Proven record in team leadership
  • Understanding of the Beatport music and product ecosystem
  • Experience with Asana or similar work management software is a plus
