PopGun Presents is an independent and growing show promotion company based in good old Brooklyn, NY. We throw concerts, parties, and events, and we're in need of interns to assist in talent buying, marketing / promotion, and business development. We also operate the Brooklyn music venue and nightclub, Elsewhere.

 

We are looking for someone who is genuinely thoughtful and passionate about music, and is active in the Brooklyn music community. You must be reliable, responsible, organized, and accountable. In addition, you must have drive, be capable of independent thought, and take ownership of your work in order to push tasks to completion in a fast-paced start-up environment. You must also be a clear communicator and a strong, inventive writer.

 

If that sounds like you, here’s what we have to offer: actual work across talent buying, communications, and operations, working directly with the company’s tight-knit group of experienced and ambitious partners. You will learn first-hand what it means to run a start-up promotions company. You’ll also go to shows and events all over the city, building your network. Yes, it will be part of your role to go to shows and events.

 

The role will be fast-paced and demanding. If you’re up for the challenge, please include a resume, a cover letter that conveys your passion and experience, and 2 writing samples.

 

We have a lot of IKEA chairs here and a very high tolerance for people who won't shut up about music :) We need someone 15 - 20 hours a week in person. Class credit is available, Paid Internship $15/ hr.

Responsibilities could include any or all of the following, based on experience, ability, and interest:

 

Event Marketing Internship

 

-  Researching artists and previous show history

-  Drafting and editing social media marketing

-  Drafting and editing press releases

-  Graphic Design

-  Conducting interviews, writing show reviews and news posts

-  Database upkeep and organization

-  General office duties

-  Going to awesome shows, listening to rad music

 

Social Media Internship

 

-        Assist our team with social media campaigns and strategies, including content                            management, sourcing, creation, editing, implementation of schedules and delivering                  content

-        Researching artists and previous show history

-        Write copy drafts for social media posts and creative campaigns

-        Assist on content creation at Elsewhere, including some front-facing and artist-facing                 content

-        Conduct market research on audience preferences and latest industry trends to create               relevant content

-        Going to awesome shows, listening to rad music

 

You’ll be successful in this role if you have…

 -       Educational background in new media, communications, film, graphic design, or other                 relevant field of study

-        Have excellent knowledge and understanding of social media tools and trends

-        Design portfolio illustrating full range of digital marketing and social media projects

-        Skilled in: Premier Pro, Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign
