Job Description

R&D Knowledge Management Systems Owner (aka Knowledge Ninja)

Based: High Wycombe / London / Hybrid
Term: Permanent, Full time
Salary: Negotiable + Excellent benefits

Are you passionate about the value of Knowledge, Engineering and Product Development?

Are you looking for a role where you can champion and promote a culture of learning and sharing information?

If so, then we’d love to hear from you!

We are looking for someone to manage our research and development knowledge base. We have grown rapidly over the last 15yrs, and now enter a new phase of group growth and expansion. With each successful product development, we have generated valuable knowledge across a variety of different tools and systems; from the designs themselves but also the learning along the way – the things that worked, and the things that didn’t. All of it is incredibly valuable when captured appropriately, organised, and made available for people to find, use, and maintain it.

What you’ll be doing

The Knowledge Manager's primary responsibility is to encourage correct and widespread usage of the company's knowledge base, making the right knowledge available to the right people at the right time.

You'll work closely with key stakeholders across the company to define our R&D knowledge management strategy, and make sure it’s aligned to the wider group vision for knowledge management.

You’ll work with all R&D departments and IT/Privacy Teams, to understand and lead the implementation of new documentation workflows and tools, which may include the retirement of old systems. Working closely with our Applications Manager (IT Team) you’ll define the requirements specifications for any application/systems changes, and support the implementation as a key stakeholder.

You’ll create guidelines for how information should be captured, and best practices to help prevent it from growing stale.

In this role you will play a significant role in the next phase of company growth, and more importantly have a direct impact on employees day to day – by giving them the tools and information needed to do their job to the best of their ability.

This role will report to the Engineering Director.

An ideal candidate is likely to be

• An existing Knowledge Base owner; a Systems, Business or Requirements Analyst; or an experienced engineer, process owner or technical project manager, with a passion for continuous improvement and sharing knowledge.

• Knowledgeable of new product development (NPD) lifecycles (consumer electronics and software) and of the typical information generated and needed by each department in that lifecycle.

• Experienced with a range of knowledge management and communication systems; including ALM and PLM software, Engineering CAD/Design packages, ticket/bug tracking, and project based documentation solutions.

• Familiar with programme and project management methods, and the processes and workflows typically used.

• Empathetic and able to build strong relationships with all departments and disciplines.

• A strong communicator with excellent analytical skills

• An effective leader with strong interpersonal skills and a growth mindset.
