Position: Studio Manager
Reports to: Managing Director
Employment: Full-time
Office location: Mustard Media, Central Manchester
Commercial Area: Primarily Europe but where required, globally.
Salary: £25,000 - £35,000 

A one-off opportunity to become an integral part of the team at Mustard Media: an events and festival accelerator agency on a mission to engineer exceptional moments in both it’s output and every-day.

We work with key clients including huge European festivals, across content creation, campaigns, social media, web/digital design and branding. 


The Studio Manager works with the Product Managers, our Creatives and the Leadership Team to organise, manage and coordinate resources and the distribution of work within the team to ensure all products and services are delivered efficiently, profitably and in a timely manner.

There is also a clear responsibility to - in collaboration with management - to contribute to, monitor and manage commercial progress versus budgets and targets set by the board of directors to help it with the ultimate goal of being the worlds leading festival and events accelerator.

The purpose of this role is two-fold:

  1. To ensure the most efficient management of time and resources allowing the agency to meet its client obligations and achieve its overall mission and goals. The Studio Manager will practically manage the day-to-day planning and running of the Studio Pool including (but not limited to) time and calendar management, capacity planning and forecasting.

  2. To make sure the agency meets its operational targets so it can become the worlds leading festival and events accelerator. Our Studio Manager will measure and monitor operational KPI’s across the agency to help it achieve its ultimate goals.

The Studio Manager will:

  • Manage the day-to-day planning and running of the Studio Pool including (but not limited to) time and calendar management, capacity planning and forecasting;
  • Be the first point of contact for new design briefs, product sales, tenders and creative requests;
  • Work to cost and time, liaising with colleagues to estimate the time required to complete work;
  • Manage the flow of work through the correct processes;
  • Liaise with all other departments to ensure excellent communication lines are established, maintained and are infectiously enthusiastic throughout each project;
  • Ensure project timeframes are met and products and services are completed as per the brief/required deliverables.
  • Measure key KPI’s, such as studio time, time sheets and project budgets;
  • Create monthly reports for Management and other key stakeholders on project timeframes and capacity;
  • Ensure the design team meets and exceeds it’s monthly minimum billable studio hours targets;
  • Monitor the efficiency of processes and systems and proactively recommend improvements where possible


The Studio Manager will have experience in a similar role either creative agency side, client side in a creative department, or working in production within events/festivals/music. The successful candidate will also have:

  • A history of successfully managing projects through a busy studio/agency, including driving workflow from concept through to production, allocating resource, ensuring work is completed in a timely manner and keeping good communication with all key stakeholders of the project;
  • A proven ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external managers and contacts;
  • An appreciation of different design tools including but not limited to Adobe Creative Suite - including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and Acrobat.
  • An understanding of the web development process.
  • An understanding and adaptability of different project & time management software such as Harvest, Teamwork, Monday.
