The Music Content Operations team is seeking  a creative, self-motivated, detail-oriented, and disciplined individual to work with us as a summer intern.  We’re seeking someone who is enthusiastic and eager to learn about the royalty-free music industry, music production, licensing, review and curation standards as well as marketplace trends.

Note: This role is for Summer 2020, running June through August, and will be based out of Shutterstock's office in Montreal, Canada. 

Responsibilities:

  • Help the music team ensure customer and contributor happiness and loyalty by constantly improving content quality and providing the best selection of content for customer use.
  • Assist with music research and playlisting requests from customers and contribute to our expert-curated playlist collections.
  • Provide administrative support to the music team’s performance rights revenue collection process: database management, rights registration, identification of TV and commercial placements, cue sheet collection, completion, and submission, and royalty report analysis and follow-up.
  • Research licensed uses of music online and use music detection tools to fulfill cue sheet requirements and maximize performance rights revenue for our artists.
  • Assist with copyright enforcement on YouTube and other video and music distribution platforms.
  • Assist as required with content submission feedback for incoming submissions by potential contributors; provide insights and guidance on standards, compliance policies and the optimal use of content upload processes.
  • Conduct quality evaluation of media assets and related metadata ensuring marketplace integrity and consistency for published content.

  • Enjoy helping people, solving problems, and working to provide a better user experience. 
  • Engaging personality with exceptional leadership, communication and networking skills. 
  • Technically minded; ability to provide creative ideas around using technology to improve the contributor and customer experience.
  • Stay educated on trends and developments in music licensing, performance rights, and the music business.
  • Software: Experience using administrative software including Microsoft Office and Google Sheets

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with online platforms and databases such as YouTube Content ID and TuneSat
  • Experience with music production software and DAWs
