Job Description

Overview

The Rock / Metal Booker is a key role within CTRL, responsible for programming, booking, and developing the brand’s live activity within the rock and metal genres.

The position combines creative curation with commercial and operational oversight, ensuring each show is both artistically credible and financially sound.

 

The role requires strong industry relationships, excellent negotiation skills, and a deep understanding of live music culture. The Booker will work closely with the directors, production, and marketing teams to deliver a consistent, high-quality programme that reflects CTRL’s values and vision.

 

Key Responsibilities

Artist Booking

  • Identify, secure, and contract artists across the rock and metal spectrum, from emerging acts to established names.
  • Maintain an active dialogue with agents, managers, and promoters to ensure access to talent pipelines.

 

Programming & Development

  • Curate and shape CTRL’s presence within the genre, aligning programming with brand direction and audience growth targets.
  • Identify new opportunities for live formats, collaborations, and partnerships.

 

Commercial Management

  • Negotiate artist fees and deal structures with transparency and professionalism.
  • Prepare and manage show budgets, ensuring accurate cost control and performance tracking.

 

Production & Operations

  • Liaise with production and operations teams to deliver artist requirements and maintain event standards.
  • Ensure technical, logistical, and creative details are delivered efficiently and within budget.

 

Marketing & Communications

  • Collaborate with the marketing team to plan announcements, promotional campaigns, and creative assets.
  • Provide input on brand positioning and messaging to ensure genre consistency.

 

Talent Development

  • Proactively scout emerging artists and trends, keeping CTRL at the forefront of the live rock and metal scene.
  • Support relationship building with up-and-coming acts and their representatives.

 

Reporting & Administration

  • Maintain accurate records of bookings, negotiations, and budgets.
  • Provide regular updates to the directors on progress, opportunities, and performance against objectives.

 

Success Measures

• Delivery of a coherent, high-quality live programme aligned with CTRL’s creative vision.

• Achievement of financial and audience growth targets.

• Positive feedback from artists, agents, and partners.

• Strengthened reputation of CTRL within the rock and metal live sector.

Professional Profile

Skills & Experience

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in artist booking, talent buying, or programming within the rock or metal industry.

• Established network of agents, managers, and artists.

• Proven ability to manage budgets, contracts, and commercial negotiations.

• In-depth understanding of rock, metal, and associated subcultures, including audience trends and market dynamics.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.

• Confident user of Notion, Google Workspace, Keynote, and Photoshop (or equivalent).

• Experience preparing decks, presentations, and artist pitches.

Salary Range

£50,000+ DOE
