About the Team

PPL’s Repertoire team are experts when it comes to music data. Through managing the PPL Repertoire Database, they provide services and analysis on data submitted by PPL Members to ensure that requirements set out in the PPL Data Policy are met. Their work ensures that we can maximise revenue generation and pay-through. The Repertoire team also works to resolve key data gaps at source wherever possible, as well as promoting industry standards and working on international projects to improve music data quality. 

What you will be doing:

The team processes datasets relating to music use around the world, and this role supports the processing, analysing, and understanding of this data. Our International Repertoire Data Coordinator will work under the supervision of the Claims Out and Statements Lead, you will be responsible for producing rightsholder and performer claims to send to other CMOs and processing statement data received from other CMOs to tight deadlines.

You will therefore facilitate the efficient receipt, validation, cleansing, transformation, matching and reporting of large and complex music industry datasets, through the use of Excel and other analytical tools.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Working under the direction of the Claims Out and Statements Lead to:
    1.Transform incoming music use datasets into standardised and workable formats
    2.Validate and, where appropriate, address the quality deficiencies of files and datasets
    3.Manipulate large and complex music use data sets in efficient manners
    4.Support the automated matching of incoming Product, Recording, Label, Artist, Performer and Payment data to corresponding PPL datasets
  • Running utilities and tools in order to coordinate activities such as matching reported music usage to recordings on PPL’s Repertoire Database
  • Regular manipulation of data using advanced Excel skills (e.g. lookups, filtering)
  • Running SSIS packages independently
  • Use of basic SQL to write and run queries and reports
  • Independently running the performer and rightsholder claims process from end-to-end
  • Extracting mandates data from Salesforce
  • Use of Access databases
  • Pre-processing of statement data
  • Running standard reporting using a variety of tools to enrich matched datasets with key attributes from the PPL Repertoire, Member Management, Rights and Distribution databases

What’s you’ll need:

  • Experience of working in a complex, high volume, data analysis and reporting environment.
  • Attention to detail is important; a good eye for spotting anomalies and patterns in data.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to communicate complex information in a concise and simplified manner
  • A good understanding and interest in the music industry.
